1. General trading risk
Trading and investing in securities, commodities, currencies, and derivatives involve a substantial risk of loss and are not suitable for every investor. The value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may lose some or all of the capital you commit. You should only trade with money you can afford to lose.
TradeCraft is a technology platform for building, backtesting, and mirroring trading strategies. It does not provide investment advice or recommendations, and nothing in the Service should be construed as a solicitation to buy or sell any instrument. All decisions are yours.
2. Futures, options, and leverage
Derivatives such as futures and options are complex, carry a high degree of risk, and are intended for experienced participants. Because derivatives are leveraged, small movements in the underlying can cause large gains or losses relative to the margin deployed, and losses can exceed your initial margin. Positions may be squared off or liquidated by your broker if margin requirements are not met.
3. Mirror trading risk
TradeCraft can mirror trades from a designated master account to one or more mirror accounts (also referred to as copy trading). Mirroring is not instantaneous or identical, and the outcome on a mirror account may differ materially from the master. Specific risks include:
- Latency and timing. Trades are detected and mirrored with a delay, so mirrored orders are placed after the master trade.
- Price differences and slippage. The mirrored order may fill at a different, and possibly worse, price than the master — especially in fast-moving or illiquid markets.
- Rejections and partial fills. A mirrored order may be rejected or only partly filled due to insufficient margin, position or regulatory limits, instrument restrictions, or broker checks (including IP or access controls), leaving accounts out of sync.
- Instrument and sizing differences. Differences in available instruments, lot sizes, product types, and account balances across brokers can cause a mirror account to diverge from the master.
- Master-account dependence. Errors or losses on the master account are propagated to every connected mirror account.
4. Automation and technology risk
Automated strategies and mirror trading depend on software, connectivity, and third-party systems that can fail. Risks include:
- Outages or degradation of TradeCraft, your broker, exchanges, or data providers, and interruptions in internet or network connectivity.
- Delays, errors, or unexpected behaviour in strategy logic, configuration, or order routing.
- Expired or revoked broker access tokens and authentication failures that prevent orders from being placed or managed.
You should monitor your accounts and open positions independently and be prepared to act directly with your broker if the Service is unavailable.
5. Backtesting and past performance
Backtest and simulated results are hypothetical. They are generated with the benefit of hindsight and may not account for real-world factors such as slippage, latency, liquidity, brokerage and transaction costs, taxes, and market impact.
Past performance is not indicative of future results
A strategy that performed well historically or in a backtest may perform very differently, including at a loss, when deployed in live markets. No representation is made that any account will or is likely to achieve results similar to those shown.
6. No investment advice; your responsibility
TradeCraft is not a broker, exchange, portfolio manager, research analyst, or investment adviser, and is not registered as such. The Service does not provide personalised investment, financial, legal, or tax advice. You are solely responsible for evaluating the merits and risks of any strategy or trade.
Consider seeking advice from a licensed financial professional before trading, and ensure any strategy is appropriate for your objectives, experience, and financial situation.
7. Acknowledgement
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Risk Disclosure, that you accept full responsibility for your trading activity and its outcomes, and that TradeCraft is not liable for any trading or investment losses. This disclosure should be read together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
